Manila, Nov 29 (EFE) – The South Korean Mina Sue Choi won the international beauty pageant “Miss Earth” 2022 on Tuesday in a colorful gala held in the Philippines, which returned to the face-to-face format after two years of pandemic.
Mina Sue Choi, born 24 years ago in Sydney (Australia) but raised between Seoul and Vancouver (Canada), won the twenty-second edition of the contest, in which the Palestinian Nadeen Ayoub and the Colombian Andrea Aguilera obtained second and third prize , respectively.
The applicants, coming from 90 countries on all the continents of the planet, competed to impress the judges in a gala with an attendance still much lower than in the editions held before the pandemic due to the security measures still in place in the Philippines.
The motto of the gala -held at Hotel Okada in Manila-, “we love wildlife”, was intended to raise public awareness about the importance of preserving the animal world, with special emphasis on endangered species.
The candidates visited several Philippine islands in the days prior to the contest, a country with an inexhaustible passion for beauty pageants and where the majority of Miss Earth editions have been held since the first gala held in the year 2000.
Miss Earth forms, together with the Miss World, Miss Universe and Miss International contests, the four great international beauty pageants. EFE
